Bengaluru: Indiranagar police Thursday arrested a man who stole a water sump cover from Grammy award-winning musician Ricky Kej‘s house. The accused, Shivakumar, a resident of Rajendra Nagar slum in Adugodi, is a habitual offender with previous theft cases, according to police.A senior police officer said Shivakumar is not associated with the food delivery firm but wore attire resembling its uniform. He targets metal objects and valuables from residential buildings and sells them to scrap dealers. On Dec 11, he stole the sump cover from Kej’s home on 13th Cross, Indiranagar Second Stage.In his complaint, Kej said two scooter-borne men surveyed his house around 6pm and returned at 6.18pm to commit the theft. Shivakumar later sold the cover to a scrap dealer in Madiwala for Rs 700. Police have recovered the stolen item and remanded him to judicial custody.Kej posted about the incident on social media, tagging the food delivery company and Bengaluru police.
