25 arrested in Ballari clash case get bail, gunman Gurucharan Singh to stay in jail

Bengaluru: A special court for elected representatives in the city Friday granted bail to 25 men arrested in connection to the Jan 1 Ballari clash, in which one Congress worker, identified as Rajashekhar, was killed.However, the court rejected the bail petition of Gurucharan Singh, a private gunman of Sathish Reddy, an aide of Congress MLA Nara Bharath Reddy, who faced murder charges in the case. According to the forensic report, the bullet that killed the Congress worker was fired from Singh’s licensed rifle.Last Monday, Ballari produced 26 men, including nine gunmen, before the court, which sent them to judicial custody in Bengaluru Central Prison. The 26 arrested men included Sathish Reddy’s private gunmen — Gurucharan Singh, Mahendra Singh and Baljit Singh — Bharath Reddy’s govt gunman Basavaraj; four govt gunmen of BJP MLA G Janardhana Reddy; and one gunman of B Sriramulu.
