Bengaluru: Police are yet to trace two men who abandoned their car, which had 20kg of ganja, and their companion, at Girinagar in southern Bengaluru.Police constable Mahesh BM, manning traffic near Hosakerehalli junction at Banashankari III Stage, noticed that a man driving a sedan with tinted glasses while speaking on a mobile phone on Sept 16 and flagged down the vehicle. “The driver sped away. Mahesh and assistant sub-inspector Rajanna chased the car on their motorcycle and blocked it after around 200 metres. At this point, two men abandoned the car and fled while the driver was caught,” an investigating officer said.The two cops discovered ganja packets in the backseat of the vehicle. “The very smell told us that it was ganja. Detaining the driver, we drove the car to the station,” they said.The driver, Naeem Ahmed (35), of Bettadasapura on Bannerghatta Road, is a scrap dealer who had gone to Nayandahalli to purchase ganja from Imran Pasha. Ahmed, Pasha, and the latter’s companion were driving to Bettadasapura when they were caught by traffic police. Admitting that he wanted to sell ganja to students and young professionals in and around Bannerghatta, Ahmed revealed that he was peddling the drug for the third time.“These claims will be verified with statements from Pasha and his unidentified companion when they are arrested,” the investigating officer said.
