Bengaluru: A 28-year-old woman attempted suicide by consuming several pills after her husband created a fake Instagram account in her name and labelled her and her mother as call girls after uploading their photographs. He also shared their contact numbers.The woman told police she had distanced herself from her husband because he harassed her, burned her body with cigarettes on multiple occasions and assaulted her. The couple was married for eight years with two daughters. The woman had walked out on him after she couldn’t tolerate his drinking habits and repeated torture. He told her to come back home and when she refused, he created a fake social media account and shared her number. The woman learnt about his act when strangers started calling her and made enquiries about escort services. Unable to bear the harassment, she tried to end her life but was saved by her mother who rushed her to hospital in time.
