Koppal: JD(S) criticised Siddaramaiah‘s claim that he was fraudulently defeated in the 1991 Lok Sabha elections, urging the chief minister to apologise for disrespecting the voters of Koppal with such remarks. CV Chandrashekhar, a member of the JD(S) state executive committee, condemned this issue, stating, “It appears that the CM has forgotten the party he represented in that Lok Sabha election. He indirectly acknowledged that, during 1991, the Congress party unlawfully secured the Koppal LS constituency through underhanded tactics. It suggests that the Congress party also won the Lok Sabha elections in May 2024 through illegitimate means. It is Siddaramaiah’s pattern to contest in North Karnataka out of fear of losing in his home constituency, resign after winning, and subsequently belittle the voters there,” he criticised. CV Chandrasekhar claimed that following his second term as CM from the Congress party, Siddaramaiah is now accusing his own party. “The irony is that the Congress party has initiated a ‘vote theft’ campaign in Bihar. What moral authority does Siddaramaiah possess to denounce vote theft?” he asked.
