BENGALURU: Bengaluru residents witnessed a rare astronomical event on Saturday evening as Comet Lemmon (C/2025 A6) became visible above the city’s western horizon. Numerous observers captured and shared images of the faint green comet, which appeared in the sky for a brief period.Skywatchers got a rare opportunity to view the comet, an icy body from the outer Solar System.“I’m so glad that i witnessed Comet today in the sky #Bengaluru,” a user wrote.Another user wrote,” Noticed something in the sky today morning.”
What is a comet?
Comets are ancient chunks of ice and rock, leftovers from the creation of the solar system. During an encounter with the sun, a comet gets warmed up.
