Karnataka govt to consider licensing for YouTubers, says CM Siddaramaiah

BENGALURU: Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah Monday said the govt will consider making licensing mandatory for state YouTubers to launch their channels. The CM’s statement comes amid demands from Karnataka Electronic Media Journalists’ Association over YouTubers allegedly using channels to air and amplify certain controversial issues, Dharmasthala being a recent example. Earlier, the CM urged the electronic media to stop airing pure rumours as news. “From the media (both print and visual), I expect nothing more than the truth,” he said.
