Dubai: New York-headquartered Tetr College of Business is looking beyond the classroom. Following the success of its inaugural cohort of 110 students, the school welcomed its second undergraduate batch — 200 students from 50 countries — at an orientation programme in Dubai on Sept 1.The four-year programme spans seven regions — the US, Europe, Dubai, India, Singapore, Ghana, and Argentina — and students learn from these regions, launching hardware products in Singapore, tapping into Silicon Valley’s tech ecosystem, and building D2C (direct-to-consumer) ventures in India.College founder Pratham Mittal said, “We have seen big momentum since the launch of our first cohort. Students have built 44 real ventures in their first year and raised funding from investors. Building a multi-country institution is a good learning experience. This will help us strengthen our programmes for the new batch.”The first cohort of 110 students set the tone for the college’s ‘learning by doing’ approach. Within the first year, they generated over $300,000 in revenue. Startups such as ServeClub (pickleball gear) and CosMoss (sea moss-based supplements) raised angel funding from investors, including Manish Poddar of Rare Rabbit and Malika Sadani of The Moms Co.This year’s cohort blends innovation, leadership, and adaptability: 34% students from South Asia, 26% from Central and Latin America, 21% from the USA and Europe, 11% from Middle East and North Africa (MENA), and the remainder from Southeast Asia. COO Tarun Gangwar said, “This year, students include startup entrepreneurs, STEM innovators, international athletes, and social-impact leaders.”With 35% female representation and a diverse mix of academic backgrounds — from science and economics to commerce and liberal arts — this cohort captures a shift towards entrepreneurial education. The dignitaries at the ceremony included Dr Edward Rogers (ex chief knowledge officer, Nasa), Sven Herzing (CTO, talabat), Jeff Stratchan, (AVP, Dubai Economy and Tourism) and Tania Mykhaulik (VP, Bayzat).(The writer was in Dubai at the invitation of Tetr College of Business)
