NAGPUR: A chlorine leak from a tanker at a water plant near Collector’s Colony in the Godni area affected several families during the intervening night of Sunday and Monday, with many residents complaining of breathing difficulties.Mankapur police officials said the leakage occurred late at night and several people were taken to Mayo Hospital and nearby private hospitals after experiencing breathing problems. Police said the situation was under control for now.The exact number of people affected is yet to be ascertained, with the process of establishing the total number of affected residents still underway. However, the air in the immediate vicinity of the tanker continued to reek of chlorine when TOI visited the area on Monday morning. The impact appeared largely confined to the area around the water plant, while residents and morning walkers further along Godni Road continued with their routine without visible panic.Videos circulating on social media have also purportedly shown stray dogs dying in the affected area, though the cause of their deaths could not be independently verified.
