Three newborns died after a fire broke out in Amravati District Women’s Hospital’s NICU.
AMRAVATI: Three newborns died after a fire broke out in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) of Amravati District Women’s Hospital around 3:30am on Monday.The fire reportedly started after an explosion in a ventilator on the hospital’s third floor, where 39 newborns were undergoing treatment.Doctors, nurses and hospital staff immediately evacuated the babies from the NICU following the fire.Six newborns were shifted to a super-speciality hospital for further treatment.The cause of the ventilator explosion and the fire is yet to be ascertained.(With agency inputs)
