Madhyamik examination under Tripura Board of Secondary Education (TBSE) this year witnessed an average pass percentage of 84.18 among 27,094 students, while Higher Secondary examination recorded a pass percentage of 79.83 among 26,502 students.Announcing the results on Friday, TBSE President Prof Dhananjoy Gonchaudhury said that the results will improve further, as per the norms, the students will be allowed to sit for improvement exams under Bachar Bachao Abhiyan (Save Academic Year Campaign) to be held within the next two months. The board also announced its decision not to release a top-ten merit list this year due to potential discrepancies that could arise during re-evaluation or self-assessment processes, Prof Gonchaudhury explained. Referring to previous instances, he said in the last year, when students initially listed in the top ten were later displaced after rechecking, causing complications for both the students and the board.Students who secure positions on a top-ten merit list from any board often qualify for direct admission into medical or engineering colleges without taking entrance exams. To address fairness concerns, TBSE plans to resume publishing a merit list from next year but will only issue certificates after the entire evaluation process, including rechecks, is complete.Highlighting institutional performance, he noted that 271 schools achieved a 100% success rate in the Madhyamik examinations, while five schools recorded zero percent success. For the Higher Secondary level, 60 schools achieved full success rates, with one school unable to produce any successful candidates.
