NEW DELHI: Amid the rising football fever during the ongoing FIFA season, India cricketer Yashasvi Jaiswal was spotted enjoying the France vs Sweden Round of 32 match at the New York New Jersey Stadium in East Rutherford.The Instagram reel was captioned “Bucket List”, highlighting the cricketer’s long-standing desire to watch a FIFA fixture and his interest in football.Even though France and Sweden were playing, Jaiswal showed where his loyalties lay by wearing Lionel Messi‘s Argentina No. 10 jersey to the match, reflecting his admiration for the football icon while soaking up the competition’s atmosphere.Watch:Away from the Indian squad, Jaiswal appeared to be making the most of his time off.The opener was left out of the squad following the inclusion of veteran batter Rohit Sharma, giving rise to much speculation, as Rohit has been under scrutiny for a long period.A day after scoring an unbeaten 110 against Afghanistan in Chennai, the 24-year-old found himself dropped from India’s ODI squad for the series against England.Since then, Jaiswal has been away from competitive action.Being one of only six batters to score a century in all three formats for the Men in Blue, Jaiswal enjoyed another successful phase with the bat.Jaiswal is expected to return to action in India’s upcoming two-match Test series against New Zealand in November.
