Dharwad: Astronomy enthusiasts and sky-gazers in Dharwad city witnessed the Blood Moon (lunar eclipse) on Sunday. It was exactly 9.57pm when the city witnessed the lunar eclipse. Most of the temples in the city remained closed in the early evening and the idols were covered with sacred cloth. To facilitate the enthusiasts and the science-loving children witness this astronomical event, Dharwad Regional Science Centre (DRSC) had made elaborate arrangements on its premises at KU campus. Large screens were set up and telescopes were erected to help the people view the eclipse. Science students made a beeline to DRSC. Though a lot of programmes were taken up to create awareness among the general public that eclipse will have no impact on humans, many people got influenced by astrologers’ predictions. They chose to watch the lunar eclipse on their TV screens. The temples witnessed heavy rush on Monday morning as people offered special sevas there.
