Belagavi/ Davanagere: Engineers’ Day was celebrated with enthusiasm at Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU, Belagavi), on the birth anniversary of Sir M Visvesvaraya.Belagavi city police commissioner Bhushan Borase, who was the chief guest, said Sir MV, one of the architects of modern India, is an inspiration not only to engineering students, but to everyone, especially those in positions of responsibility. He urged VTU students to imbibe his values and contribute meaningfully to the country’s progress.Borase stressed the need to complement textbook learning with practical skills and encouraged students to focus on holistic development. “You are at a crucial stage of life. Lead a simple and disciplined student life, avoid superficial attractions, stay away from substance abuse, and adopt a healthy lifestyle,” he advised.In his presidential address, VTU VC prof Vidyashankar S highlighted the university’s efforts to groom well-rounded graduates through several initiatives and the establishment of Centres of Excellence.
