British oil giant BP has removed Albert Manifold as chairman less than a year after he took over the role, citing what it described as “serious concerns” over governance, oversight and conduct at the company, AFP reported. The company announced on Tuesday that board member Ian Tyler has been appointed interim chairman with immediate effect.“The board has been surprised and disappointed to learn of governance oversight and conduct issues it deems unacceptable and has taken decisive action,” Amanda Blanc, BP’s senior independent director, said in a statement.Manifold’s exit comes after less than a year in the role, with BP saying the decision followed concerns related to governance standards and oversight within the company.
