S Jaishankar said Friday India is exploring ideas with both Russia and Ukraine to bring the conflict to an end

NEW DELHI: External affairs minister S Jaishankar said Friday India is exploring ideas with both Russia and Ukraine to bring the conflict to an end, while again defending India’s energy sourcing and underlining that it’s important to “diagnose” the problem right. The minister had said in Ukraine a day ago that the conflict will end through dialogue and diplomacy and not oil trade.Without revealing if there was any specific peace proposal under consideration, Jaishankar said India was having “detailed discussions” with both sides about possible ways to facilitate peace. He was speaking in Warsaw after a meeting with his Polish counterpart Radoslaw Sikorski.“PM Modi and President Putin met in Bishkek three days ago, and then I went to Kyiv. So, what we had were discussions with the Russian side, yesterday with the Ukrainian side, and what we are trying to do is to see if there are ideas and suggestions which can be developed in some way in which they would contribute to the mitigation, ideally the cessation of the conflict,” he said.
