Bengaluru: The high court Monday ordered notice to the govt in response to a public interest litigation (PIL) seeking directions for the grant of 30 acres or more land in central Bengaluru for constructing a new HC building. This is in terms of a high court order passed in Oct 2019.The PIL, filed by Bengaluru resident Sharan Desai, also sought a direction to provide funds for completion of the project.
The petitioner said although the govt suggested providing space in Indhana Bhavan building, Anand Rao Circle, it may not be feasible to shift some of the branches as it’s 3-4 km away from the high court.Apart from providing accommodation and offices to judges, as well as court halls, the other major concern is providing basic amenities and utilities, including space for parking vehicles at the HC.
