Bengaluru: Hoysala staffers saved a 90-year-old man, who fell on the road after suffering from giddiness and injured his forehead.“We were patrolling in a nearby area when we received a call stating an elderly man had lost consciousness in AECS Layout, Begur, around 2.30pm Sunday. We reached the spot in less than five minutes. We gave him water and, slowly, he regained consciousness. He said his name is Papanna. Since he had an injury on his forehead, we decided to shift him to a hospital,” said assistant sub-inspector Satish Kumar of Hoysala 214.
The nonagenarian was not comfortable sitting in a Hoysala since it is a police vehicle. Constable Manjunath then took him to the hospital in an autorickshaw. The elderly man could hardly speak due to his injury and uneasiness. To trace his family, the police team went back to the same area and started enquiring with shopkeepers and others. One shopowner directed them to the man’s house.“We reached the house and explained the situation to Papanna’s son Prakash. He rushed to the hospital and brought his father back after doctors allowed him to leave,” the ASI said. Doctors advised Prakash not to allow his father to go out in the sun. “My father has the habit of going for short walks during the day,” Prakash told staff at the hospital. According to doctors, Papanna had lost blood, and police’s timely action saved him from further trouble.
