Pic: Koppal district minister Shivaraj Tangadagi inspected the Tungabhadra dam on Sunday to assess the progress of the installation of new crest gatesMunirabad (Koppal): ORK Reddy, the former secretary of the Tungabhadra Board and director of the Central Water Commission (CWC), said that the Tungabhadra dam will be equipped with all 33 new crest gates by the 1st week of May.On Sunday, during a visit by the district minister Shivaraj Tangadagi, he stated that the installation of Crest Gate 18 was completed, and Gate 20 was nearly finished. The installation of Gate 27 may take an additional 3 days, and the process for Gate 4 has just begun.Reddy pointed out that the 1st gate took almost 10 days to finish, while the 2nd gate was completed in just 6 days. As they moved forward, the duration for installing each new crest gates continues to decrease. He assured that since they were working around the clock except on Sundays, the task should be completed well ahead of the monsoon season.In the meantime, minister Tangadagi, along with deputy commissioner Suresh B Itnal, ZP CEO Varnit Negi, and other officials, discussed the overall progress of the crest gate installation.
