Kalaburagi: Rural development and panchayat raj minister Priyank Kharge on Saturday launched a sharp attack on the Centre’s VB-G RAM G Act, calling it the “Nathuram Godse Act”.Addressing a press conference at the Aiwan-e-Shahi Guest House here, Priyank, who is also in-charge of Kalaburagi district, said the act had nothing to do with the ideals of Lord Ram. “This is neither Dasharatha’s Ram nor Sita’s Ram. This is Nathuram Godse’s Ram, the Ram of RSS ideology,” he remarked, alleging that RSS principles are anti-poor and aimed at intoxicating people with religious narratives.Terming the VB G RAM G Act unconstitutional, Priyank said the Karnataka govt had already passed a resolution opposing it. He added that the state was preparing for a legal battle against the act and had decided to convene a two-day special session to discuss the issue in detail.On the pending anti-hate speech bill awaiting the governor’s assent, the minister said while some bills had been cleared, others were still being withheld. “If there are suggestions or corrections, they should be communicated. Holding back bills due to political malice is not right,” he said.Responding to a query on illegal Bangladeshi immigrants, Priyank said preventing illegal immigration was the responsibility of the central govt. “If Pakistani terrorists or Bangladeshi citizens are crossing the borders, they are entering through BJP-ruled states,” he alleged.Accusing the BJP of running a “factory of lies,” Priyank said the party was deliberately spreading false information, prompting the Congress to file complaints against it. Referring to a BJP social media post linking him to an FIR involving a Yadgir sportsperson, he clarified that the athlete had not named him and did not even belong to his district. “The BJP is repeatedly making baseless allegations against me to please the RSS,” he said, adding that legal action had been initiated against the BJP’s social media network.
