Provide lounge rooms, incentives for ASHA workers, ZP CEO tells officers

Mysuru: Zilla panchayat CEO S Ukesh Kumar on Wednesday directed medical officers to provide ASHA workers with lounge rooms in hospitals and health centres.Speaking at a district-level ASHA workers’ grievance redressal meeting for the first quarter of 2025-26 at Anubhava Mantapa, district health department headquarters, he also directed medical officers to issue claim forms for activity incentives every month. He promised to address other demands of ASHA workers by bringing them to the notice of the govt.The association representatives earlier highlighted activities currently being carried out by ASHA workers at the field level and the incentives managed through the ASHA Nidhi software.DHO Dr PC Kumaraswamy said there are a total of 1,730 ASHA workers currently serving in the district, who are implementing national health programmes at the community level for the overall improvement of the health sector. The activities of ASHA workers include home visits, celebrating village/city health and nutrition days, visiting health institutions, organising awareness meetings at the field level, maintaining village health records, raising awareness about nutrition, basic hygiene, and healthy practices, providing information on healthy lifestyles, and visiting pregnant women at home and emphasising safe institutional deliveries.The meeting was attended by district RCH officer Dr Mohammad Shiraj Ahmad, district-level programme implementation officers, all taluk health officers, ASHA workers’ association representatives, and health staff.A one-day training for community health officers on effectively implementing the state govt’s ambitious Home Health Programmes at the community level was held at the Doctors’ Hall, District Health and Family Welfare Office, on Wednesday. The training provided an outline for organising the Home Health Programme at the community level.
