Chikkamagaluru: A 21-year-old man was allegedly murdered for uploading a photo with a girl on social media in Tarikere in Chikkamagaluru district. The victim, Manjunath, had allegedly wished the girl on her birthday with a photo uploaded on the social media. According to police, the girl’s marriage was fixed with another person.The girl’s brother, Kiran, along with three others, allegedly attacked Manjunath, which led to his death, police said.According to Tarikere police, Kiran allegedly contacted Manjunath over mobile phone and asked him to come near an underpass in the town on Wednesday evening. After a brief argument, Kiran allegedly attacked Manjunath with a knife. Manjunath was rushed to hospital but he died on Thursday, police said.A case was registered under sections 352 (intentional insult with the intent to provoke a breach of peace or another offence) and 103 (1) of the BNS.
