Vijayapura: A thief assaulted a head constable while looting a house in the Srinagar area of Basavan Bagewadi in the early hours of Wednesday. Police said that acting on a phone call from residents, police inspector Gurushant Dashyal and head constable Ramesh Gooli rushed to the spot. “A group of four miscreants was looting a rented house belonging to Sachin Khanapur. As police arrived, Gooli caught one of them. In turn, the thief stabbed Gooli and fled the scene. Gooli is admitted to a private hospital in Vijayapura,” they added.SP Laxman Nimbargi visited the hospital and enquired about the health condition of Gooli.
