Mangaluru: Kishore Alva, executive director and president of Adani Group, said that there are plans to create visual representations reflecting the Tulu language and culture at the Mangaluru International Airport (MIA) in collaboration with the Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy.He spoke at the unveiling of old Mangalore photographs by senior photographer Yajna at the Tulu Bhavan during the ‘SU Paniyadi Tulu Nadu Chavadi’ event.Alva emphasised the need for the govt, community, and private sector to come together to preserve and promote the ancient Tulu and the culture of Tulu Nadu. “The interest shown by people from both India and abroad in learning about the Tulu language and culture was a hopeful development,” he noted.Yajna’s documentation of old Mangaluru through his camera lens provides a historical insight into the city, Alva added. Yajna was honoured with the ‘Chavadi Thammana’ award by the Tulu Sahitya Academy during the event.Mudipu Tulu Nadu Siri Museum founder Madan Mohan Nayak unveiled the ‘SU Paniyadi Tulu Nadu Chavadi’ plaque. Subhash Chandra Basu, president of Art Kanara Trust, spoke on the significance of Yajna’s old black-and-white photographs.Tharanath Gatti Kapikad, chairman of Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy, presided over the event and said that the installation of various series of photographs depicting Tulu culture will continue at the ‘SU Paniyadi Tulu Nadu Chavadi’.
