Power sharing issue in Cong unfortunate: Joshi

Hubballi: The Congress high command is “high without command.” There is a wide debate on power sharing and the buying and selling of MLAs, Union minister Pralhad Joshi alleged, adding that this kind of development in the state is unfortunate.Speaking to the reporters here on Sunday, Joshi said that no one committed suicide due to the SIR (Special Intensified Revision) census. “They may have committed suicide for some other reason. The govt there will find out what the reason for the suicide is. The Election Commission (EC) is doing this, and the central govt has no role in it. However, the opposition parties are creating unnecessary confusion,” he said.Joshi stated that the EC is an autonomous body. The decisions it takes cannot be discussed in Parliament. The SIR decision belongs to the EC. “We are ready to discuss electoral reforms. The opposition parties should be aware that this is not happening for the first time in the country,” he said.To a question about his absence from the meeting of state MPs called by the chief minister in Delhi, Joshi said, “We have already clarified this. We have not politicised this. The chief minister sent letters to me and to Union ministers Nirmala Sitharaman, HD Kumaraswamy, Shobha Karandlaje, and V Somanna. Apart from the letters, no one has called me. When I checked my schedule, I had a meeting scheduled with the Prime Minister. Hence, I informed that I will not be attending the meeting. We respect the position of chief minister. However, if they had called and asked, we would have taken the time and attended the meeting.” Joshi clarified that they are all committed to the land and water of the state.
