Shivamogga: Senior Congress MLA Gopal Krishna Belur on Wednesday said he deserves to be elevated as a minister. “I am not a sanyasi, I am just asking for my rights,” he said in Shivamogga on Wednesday. A three-time MLA from Sagara constituency, he urged the high command to resolve the confusion over chief minister’s position and allocate ministerial posts to newcomers.“The chief minister’s post has created confusion in the state and is harming the party. The central leaders should resolve this issue,” he said.He stated that he was unaware of the signature campaign. “I haven’t identified myself with any factions. I am with Congress and support the high command’s decision,” he added. He said that several leaders, including DK Shivakumar and G Parameshwara, are interested in the CM’s post, but the decision rests with the high command. “If the national leaders decide, the chief minister will change, and ministers will also change,” he added.On the delay in cabinet expansion, he said, “The central leaders are handling it. It’s causing confusion and embarrassment to the party. I am an aspirant for ministerial position, but it’s up to the state and central leaders to decide.”
