High alert in Bengaluru after Delhi blast; hotels to be checked

Bengaluru: Police stepped up security across key public spaces in the city following Monday’s bomb blast in Delhi.Vigilance measures have been stepped up, police commissioner Seemanth Kumar Singh told TOI. All police personnel, including senior officers, have been deployed on patrolling duty.“We will sanitise abandoned vehicles across the city. Nakabandi has been enforced on major roads, and thorough frisking of vehicles and individuals will be carried out,” he said.Security has been tightened at Kempegowda International Airport (KIA), Krantiveera Sangolli Rayanna (KSR) railway station and KSRTC/BMTC bus terminals in Majestic. Patrolling units have been directed to conduct frequent checks at Metro stations.In addition, police teams have launched checks at hotels, PG accommodations, lodges and other public spaces. All DCPs and ACPs have been instructed to ensure continuous patrolling within their jurisdictions, especially around crowded areas. Anti-sabotage squads and bomb disposal units have been placed on standby to respond to any potential threat.A senior DCP said enhanced surveillance will continue through the night. “ACPs and inspectors have been told to keep a close watch on public areas and scrutinise suspicious vehicles and individuals. All senior officers will be on night rounds at various locations,” the officer said.
