Haveri: Former chief minister and MP Basavaraj Bommai highlighted a shortage of doctors and a significant disparity in the ratio of hospital beds to patients in North Karnataka when compared to South Karnataka.He emphasised the need for focused attention on North Karnataka during the inauguration of the ‘Swasth Naari, Sashakt Parivaar’ (healthy woman, empowered family) campaign at the community health centre in Gutthal on Monday.The programme was organised jointly by the ministry of health and family welfare, Govt of India, the district health and family welfare department, and the taluk health officers’ office in Haveri to mark the 75th birthday of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.Stressing the importance of community health, Bommai stated, “Health exists at many levels. The health of an individual affects the health of the family, the community, the state, and the nation. Protecting national health starts with the health of everyone; it is everyone’s responsibility.”
