NEW DELHI: A school minivan carrying children got stuck in an open drain on Bengaluru’s Panathur-Bellandur road on Friday morning. Video shows one of the vehicle’s tyres wedged in the drain while students remained inside. Fortunately, no injuries were reported. The accident is the latest in a series of mishaps on the busy stretch. Earlier this month, a school bus partially toppled between 7.30 and 8am. Within hours, a mini-tempo and a water tanker also sank into slush-filled craters on the nearby Panathur-Balagere stretch. The mini-tempo tilted dangerously before passersby pulled it out, while the water tanker had to be rescued with an earthmover. Residents say the situation has become untenable. “Accidents have become a routine here, but now even vehicles are toppling into these craters,” said Pavitra Hola, a commuter who frequently uses the road. “An auto fell right in front of my eyes — it’s impossible to judge the potholes when it rains.”
