Udupi: A person was arrested on charges of possessing MDMA on Monday. The accused is Mohammad Arfan,26, a resident of Kaup, Udupi.According to police, acting on a tip off that narcotic substances were being stored and sold in a public place at Vidyarathna Nagar, Manipal, in a scooter, Mahesh Prasad, police inspector, Manipal police station, along with his staff, proceeded to the said location and confirmed the presence of the scooter. A raid was conducted, and the accused was taken into custody.On checking the scooter, two mobile phones and a white plastic container were found. Upon further inspection, the container was found to contain a ziplock plastic cover with a white substance identified as MDMA, weighing 6.6g, valued at approximately Rs 13,000. The two seized mobile phones are estimated to be worth around Rs 60,000.The accused was found in possession of the MDMA with the intent to sell it for personal profit. The items were seized, and a case was registered at Manipal police station under the NDPS Act.
