Dharwad: A total of 203 cases were settled out of the 1,189 taken up during the National Lok Adalat held at the high court’s Dharwad bench on Saturday, resulting in a compensation award of Rs 3.4 crore.The Lok Adalat, held under the leadership of Justice Sunildutt Yadav addressed a wide range of cases including motor accident compensation cases, cheque dishonour appeals, civil matters, and writ petitions. Many of these cases had been pending resolution for several years. The settlement of long-pending disputes fostered cordial relations between the parties involved, aligning with the objective of delivering justice in a simple, accessible, and efficient manner.Apart from Justice Sunildutt Yadav, Justices SR Krishnakumar, CM Poonaccha and Vijaykumar A Patil along with and senior advocates and Lok Adalat panel members SS Badawadgi, Harsh Desai, PG Naik and MS Hallikeri presided over four benches constituted for the proceedings. The spirit of justice was clearly evident throughout the day’s proceedings, said High Court Legal Services Committee member Gerald Rudolph Mendonca.
