BJP slams Siddaramaiah’s remarks on Hinduism

Bengaluru: Karnataka BJP criticised chief minister Siddaramaiah’s remarks on Hinduism and accused the Congress govt of harbouring the agenda of dividing the Hindu community in the name of the socioeconomic survey.Earlier, the chief minister had sought to know why people converted to other faiths if Hinduism was inclusive and provided equal opportunities to all. He was responding to BJP’s objections to the inclusion of Hindu caste names under other religions in the upcoming socioeconomic survey.BJP state president BY Vijayendra took to social media, saying the CM’s statement was akin to encouraging Hindus to convert to other faiths. “After condemning Hindu dharma and running propaganda against centres of Hindu faith, the Congress govt has gone one step ahead to instigate Hindus to convert,” he wrote in a post on X.He accused the CM of diverting people’s attention from the govt’s ‘blunder’ of officially notifying castes having Hindu names with a prefix of ‘Christian’. “Instead of clarifying this move, Siddaramaiah has questioned equality within the Hindu community. This shows his intolerance towards the Hindu faith,” he added.Vijayendra also alleged that the Congress govt is planning to nullify the anti-conversion law and the ban on cow slaughter. He questioned Siddaramaiah’s silence on the inequalities and the treatment of women in Islam, adding that the CM’s political ideology consisted of minority appeasement and that the same would reflect in the state’s administration.Leader of opposition in the legislative assembly, R Ashoka, also challenged the CM to question the inequalities within Islam. He asked Siddaramaiah to remove his lens of “left-wing ideology” that makes him criticise Hindus, and instead think objectively.
