Bengaluru: Over Rs 3 lakh in cash was stolen from the residence of Sandalwood actor Darshan and his wife Vijayalakshmi at Prestige South Ridge Apartments in Hosakerehalli, Banashankari III Stage.Police suspect it to be the handiwork of an insider. Based on a complaint by Vijayalakshmi’s house manager Nagaraju, police registered a case under Section 306 of Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (theft by clerk or servant) Wednesday. The theft is said to have taken place between Sept 4-8.According to the complaint, Vijayalakshmi had asked Nagaraju to take some money from a box in her bedroom wardrobe on Sept 4, before leaving for Mysuru. Later, when she checked the box on Sept 8, the cash, amounting to over Rs 3 lakh. was missing. Despite searching the house and questioning domestic staff, the money couldn’t be traced.Police say probe is under way to identify and nab the culprit. Darshan is currently lodged in Bengaluru Central Prison in connection with the murder of Chitradurga resident Renukaswamy.
