Gadag: Manjunath Malappa Giddamallannavar, 30, a Gadag-based soldier in the Indian Army, died at Jalandhar in Punjab on Tuesday. Family sources said he was electrocuted at his quarters three days ago, and succumbed to injuries on Tuesday. “His younger brother has left for Jalandhar, and we are waiting for the body,” they added. Ganesh Byali, founder of Sri Maharana Pratap Simha Education Society, Betgeri-Gadag, told TOI Giddamallannavar was a student of his school, and passed SSLC in 2006. “Being a native of Hirekoppa village, he was active in curricular and co-curricular activities,” he recalled. Sources in the district administration said the body may be brought by Wednesday evening.
