Belagavi: The political heat in Hukkeri taluk over the upcoming elections to the Belagavi District Central Cooperative (BDCC) Bank took an unusual turn on Monday, when the wife of a Prathamik Krishi Pattin Society (PKPS) member publicly assaulted her husband for supporting the Jarkiholi faction. The incident occurred in Madihalli village, right in front of district minister Satish Jarkiholi. According to sources, PKPS member Maruti Sanadi openly declared his support for Rajendra Patil, the candidate backed by Satish Jarkiholi for the BDCC Bank director’s post.As political rivalry between Satish Jarkiholi and former MP Ramesh Katti intensified ahead of elections to both the BDCC Bank and the Hukkeri Rural Electric Cooperative Society, tempers were running high. For the past two weeks, the two leaders have been trading sharp statements, escalating the tension. On Monday, Sanadi’s wife, Lagamavva, reportedly confronted him in public, pulling his collar and slapping him before a crowd gathered outside the PKPS office. Minister Jarkiholi and his supporters intervened to pacify her and defuse the situation.Following the incident, Sanadi left the spot along with Jarkiholi’s supporters. A few hours later, Ramesh Katti arrived at the same location, only to be met with slogans and opposition from Jarkiholi’s followers.
