Bengaluru: Following its deemed university status, Fr Augustine George CMI has been appointed the vice-chancellor of Kristu Jayanti.According to a press release, he was appointed by Fr Abraham Vettiyankal, chancellor of the university and provincial of St Joseph Province, Kottayam. Both belong to the same province of CMI congregation.The institute was conferred deemed university status this year, having grown from nine students in 1999 as an affiliated institution under Bangalore North University to 16,000 students at present. It achieved autonomous status in 2013.
