Afghanistan vs Bangladesh, AFG vs BAN Live Score: Afghanistan captain Rahmat Shah produced a resilient unbeaten 84 to keep his team in the contest against Bangladesh on the second day of the Test in Abu Dhabi. Afghanistan reached 211 for four at stumps, trailing Bangladesh’s first-innings score of 346 by 135 runs.
Rahmat faced 186 balls and struck eight fours and a six, holding firm as Bangladesh’s bowlers tried to break through during the final session. He found a reliable partner in vice-captain Ikram Alikhil, who remained unbeaten on 26 off 91 deliveries. Their unbroken 72-run stand for the fifth wicket helped Afghanistan negotiate the closing overs without losing another wicket.
Bangladesh briefly regained the initiative after tea through wicketkeeper Litton Das. He pulled off a superb diving catch to his right to dismiss Abdul Malik, who had scored 62 off 120 balls, including five boundaries and a six. Litton then completed a sharp stumping off Mehidy Hasan Miraz to send Hashmatullah Shahidi back for a two-ball duck.
Malik had earlier provided valuable support to Rahmat, reaching his maiden Test half-century in the 34th over. Rahmat also played positively, finding boundaries through cover and midwicket and striking Taijul Islam for a straight six.
Bangladesh had resumed the day on 334 for eight but were bowled out for 346 in 8.3 overs. Mohammad Saleem claimed four wickets for 82 runs, while Yamin Ahmadzai took three and Ismat Alam picked up two. Tanzid Hasan’s 83 and Shadman Islam’s 67 had provided the foundation for Bangladesh’s total.
Afghanistan lost Sediqullah Atal and Shahidullah during their innings, but Malik and Rahmat helped rebuild after the early setbacks. Shahidullah fell for 20, top-edging a hook off Ebadot Hossain, while Atal edged Hasan Mahmud to first slip.
Rahmat’s resistance has kept Afghanistan within reach of Bangladesh’s total, with six wickets remaining. His next challenge will be to convert his half-century into a hundred and help Afghanistan reduce the deficit on the third day.
