Koppal: A woman who underwent sterilisation surgery at the community health centre in Hirevankalkunta village in Yalburga taluk passed away on Tuesday. Her family claims that her death resulted from doctors’ negligence. Mallamma Kallur, 23, was in the middle of the procedure when her condition deteriorated. The surgeon, Dr Ishwar Savadi, immediately referred her to the district hospital. However, Mallamma succumbed to her condition en route. She leaves behind two children, one aged two and a half years and the other five months. “Dr Savadi treated her without administering anaesthesia, which is the reason for her death,” Mallamma’s family members claimed. They expressed their dissatisfaction to DHO Dr Lingaraju T, who visited the district hospital. DHO Dr Lingaraj said the woman’s body was sent for postmortem analysis, and further steps will follow after the report is obtained.
