Bengaluru: Students and parents panicked after the Karnataka Examinations Authority (KEA) website malfunctioned a day before the last date to pay fees during the second round of counselling. KEA later announced that the last date has been extended to Sept 3 (Wednesday). As per the earlier schedule for the second round, payment of fees for choice 1 and 2 candidates was to be done from 6pm on Aug 30 till Sept 2. When students tried to log in, the website was down from early Monday.“The last day was Tuesday. What if we developed some issue on the last day? Despite repeated problems, it is sad that KEA hasn’t been able to fix this basic issue,” said a parent.“KEA link is not working. Tomorrow (Tuesday) is (was) the last date to make a choice, pay fees and download the slip. Sept 3 is (was) the last date to report for college admission. How do they expect people from rural areas and far-off places to complete the process,” asked the Voice of Parents’ Association on X.KEA said the issue is with overload. “There has been considerable load with even students choosing choice 3 and downloading challans. We are aware of the issue and our team is working on it,” said H Prasanna, executive director, KEA. By Monday evening, KEA announced extension of the date for fee payment and reporting to college — Wednesday and Thursday, respectively.
