Bengaluru: Several train services to and from the city will be disrupted Tuesday as part of Byappanahalli yard remodelling project.Bangarapet-SMVT Bengaluru Memu train (06527) will not operate Tuesday. Similarly, the return service, from SMVT Bengaluru to Bangarapet (06528), will be cancelled Wednesday. In addition, partial cancellations will affect Bangarpet-Bengaluru Memu service, which will terminate at Whitefield. Two express trains will be diverted: Lokmanya Tilak Terminus-Coimbatore Express will take an alternate route via KSR Bengaluru, Bengaluru Cantonment, Byappanahalli, Krishnarajapuram, Bangarpet and Salem, bypassing the usual stops at Hosur and Dharmapuri. Similarly, Mysuru-Tuticorin Express, will skip stops at Karmelaram, Hosur, Palakkodu and Dharmapuri.SWR sees record growthSouth Western Railway Monday said it carried 14.5 million passengers and its earnings soared to Rs 305 crore in Aug, marking a substantial rise from Rs 264 crore and 13.4 million passengers in the same month last year.Freight earnings also registered a robust surge, reaching Rs 418 crore compared to Rs 323 crore in the same month last year.
