Mangaluru: Mangaluru City South MLA D Vedavyas Kamath directed the Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) commissioner to take all necessary precautions to ensure the upcoming Mangaluru Dasara festival is conducted smoothly.The MLA said roads on the Dasara procession route should be maintained properly on priority. Streetlights should be fixed, road dividers cleaned, potholes filled, and garbage and soil removed on roads including Kudroli Temple to Ladyhill, Lal Bagh, PVS Circle, Wenlock Hospital, Mohini Vilas, New Chitra Talkies, and Alake, he said.Additionally, all necessary precautions should be taken on the connecting roads to Mangaladevi Temple and Car Street Venkataramana Temple to ensure the festival celebrations are not disrupted in any way, the MLA instructed.Kamath said that he urged the state govt during the recent legislature session to immediately release special funds to take up urgent work to reconstruct the damaged roads, drains, stormwater drains, and retaining walls in his constituency.“For the past two years, the state govt did not release any special funds for the damage caused by natural disasters. Everything remains on paper and was not implemented. It has become a matter of concern. Currently, there is a budget shortfall in the MCC, with no funds for relief or development work,” said Kamath, urging the govt to sanction special funds for the constituency.
