BENGALURU: A massive traffic jam in Bengaluru triggered a political outburst on Sunday after Samajwadi Party MP from Ghosi, Uttar Pradesh, took to X to slam the city’s traffic police and the Karnataka government. The MP, who was stuck for over an hour on Dr Rajkumar Samadhi Road while trying to reach the Kempegowda International Airport, posted screenshots showing multiple unanswered calls made to various traffic control numbers. Expressing frustration, he tagged Karnataka chief minister Siddaramaiah, Bengaluru city police commissioner and senior traffic officials, accusing them of “the worst traffic management” and “irresponsible, useless traffic police.”

He wrote that no officer was visible on the road during the jam and said the chaos would cause him to miss his flight, adding that he had to attend a Parliament session the next day. Calling Bengaluru’s traffic “notorious,” the MP said the inefficiency of officers was damaging the city’s reputation despite its global image as a tech hub.

The tweet quickly gained traction online, drawing mixed reactions—some users supported his complaint, while others criticised politicians for speaking up only when they personally faced inconvenience. Meanwhile, police sources said they were checking congestion triggers in the area, including ongoing infrastructure work and vehicle breakdowns.
