For construction workers, arranging the finances needed to purchase or build a house can be a significant challenge. To provide financial support for this purpose, the Uttarakhand government offers assistance to eligible registered construction workers through a loan at a minimal interest rate. The financial assistance for purchase or construction of house scheme is implemented by the Uttarakhand building and other construction workers welfare board (UKBOCWWB) under the Labour Department, government of Uttarakhand.Under the scheme, registered construction workers can receive an advance loan of up to Rs 50,000 for the purchase or construction of a house, subject to the conditions specified by the Board. The loan carries an interest rate of at least 5 per cent per annum.
Eligibility and documents required
In order to avail the benefit, the applicant must be a construction worker registered with the UKBOCWWB.To avail the advance loan, the worker must have been a member of the fund for at least five years and must have at least 15 years remaining until the superannuation or retirement age.The application must be accompanied by the following documents:
- Shramik Card
- Aadhaar Card
- Bank account details
- A handwritten self-declaration certificate stating that no assistance has been taken from any other department for the same purpose.
Application process
The application process is online, submitted through shramik suvidha kendras. After submission, the application is subject to departmental verification and investigation.If the application is found to be correct during the verification process, the advance amount is disbursed. The worker is required to pay interest per annum on the advance.Proof of completion of the work must be submitted to the secretary of the Board within six months from the date of withdrawal of the advance. The sanctioned advance amount is recovered in equal instalments as determined by the Board.
