Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada District Congress Committee (DCC) president Harish Kumar said that making baseless allegations against Sri Kshetra Dharmasthala has become a daily topic on social media. “The govt has subjected the case to a Special Investigation (SIT) probe, which has been welcomed by religious leaders, including Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari D Veerendra Heggade, and people across the state. An impartial investigation is under way, and searches were conducted at all locations indicated by the anonymous person. YouTubers and social media users are expressing their opinions and passing judgement on the matter. After two weeks of inaction, the BJP has now awakened and is making baseless accusations against the Congress party,” said Kumar.There have been statements suggesting that a Congress MP is behind this conspiracy in Dharmasthala, he said. “Responding to demands from many, the Congress govt has formed an SIT to bring out the truth, which has been welcomed by Heggade. The truth is gradually emerging through the investigation, which the BJP finds hard to digest, and their actions are similar to a drama company. Consequently, they have started a campaign to tarnish the Congress party’s image. This is condemnable. When asked, the Congress MP said that he has no connection to the developments taking place in Dharmasthala. He also questioned why he is being linked to this?” Kumar said.The Dakshina Kannada district Congress strongly condemns the statements made against the Congress MP and the Congress, he said. “If they have evidence, they should provide it to the SIT for investigation. The district Congress demands that these individuals also be subjected to an SIT investigation and urges cooperation without politicising the issue,” he added.
