Tiff over chicken: 15-year-old boy stabs friend to death in Karnataka

MYSURU: A quarrel between two 15-year-old tribal boys over sharing cooked chicken ended in the murder of one of them on Friday night.The boys, residents of Varthi haadi in Periyapatna, had allegedly stolen a chick from their locality, and cooked it for a meal. Police said the duo decided to share the meat equally, but when the portions appeared uneven, an argument broke out between them — they traded charges of cheating and disrespect. This led to a physical fight.

During the confrontation, one of the boys, Dileep, was attacked with a sharp weapon and suffered fatal injuries. He was rushed to hospital but succumbed early on Saturday.Periyapatna police have registered a case of murder against the minor accused, who has since fled. A search is under way to trace him.Additional SP C Mallik said the assault was attacked with sharp weapon by his minor friend after an argument over sharing chicken dish. The accused attacked the victim after the latter allegedly asked his friend to confess the theft of the chick to its owner. Angered by this, the accused attacked him with the weapon, leading to his death.
