The recommendation is currently under review by the assistant commissioner, who has also been informed of the names of two or three additional rowdy-sheeters for possible inclusion.In addressing the rowdies, SP Giri remarked, “This is not a parade of honour. You destroyed your life by choosing the wrong path, leading to jail and court appearances. You should caution others against following such a path.”Concerned about the recent rise in mobile phone misuse, SP Giri warned against sending inappropriate videos and images to anyone. “Rowdy-sheeters have been directed not to distribute obscene content and provocative messages. The public is also urged to be cautious with their mobile phone usage,” he stated.“If folk art troupes are utilised instead of DJs during idol immersion, it will provide sustenance for a month for impoverished artistes. Directions will be issued to implement such artistic initiatives not only in rural areas but also in urban settings,” stated SP Arunangshu Giri.As of now, 2,031 applications have been submitted in the district seeking permission to hold public Ganeshotsav events. Out of these, only 600 applications meet the necessary format requirements. The other applicants are expected to resubmit their applications in the proper format by Aug 25.Police have verified that the guidelines provided by the govt and the courts concerning the use of loudspeakers and eco-friendly Ganesha idols will be rigorously enforced in the district.ASP G Manjunath, DSP T Manjunath, inspectors from various stations, and PSIs were present at the parade.
