Mysuru: Taluk officials, led by Mysuru taluk tahsildar Maheshkumar, reclaimed encroached govt land worth crores of rupees by clearing temporary structures during an operation on Friday morning. About 38 guntas of land in survey number 87 in Mysuru taluk was allegedly encroached upon. The operation was carried out in the presence of police security and other officers.The district administration allotted this 0.38 guntas of govt land to the department of other backward classes and minorities welfare for the construction of post-matric hostels for boys and girls. An order to this effect was also issued by the then deputy commissioner on Aug 30, 2010.Private individuals not only encroached this govt property but also used the land as a parking lot for private vehicles, collecting parking fees from vehicle owners. “They also constructed a temporary shed for a tea shop,” said tahsildar Maheshkumar.Following a complaint about the encroachment, the Mysuru taluk administration cleared the encroachments and reclaimed the govt land, paving the way for the construction of the post-matric hostel for boys and girls.Officers attached to the department of other backward classes, legal metrology, and police were present during the operation.
