Guv forms panel to probe KSOU ‘irregularities’

Mysuru: Governor Thaawar Chand Gehlot, who is also the chancellor of Karnataka State Open University (KSOU), constituted a one-man fact-finding committee headed by a retired high court judge to probe various allegations of irregularities in the university.Justice BA Patil will head this panel, which will inquire into the charges of appointing temporary teaching and non-teaching staff beyond the sanctioned posts, changing designations, opening regional centres unnecessarily, appointing temporary directors of regional centres, and creating posts without the approval of the state govt and the Board of Management.Moves follows after some students staged a protest against alleged irregularities in the university recently.Whistleblower Jagadish Babu, who lodged a complaint in this regard with the governor’s office, said the commission must investigate both former and current officials serving at the varsity.
