Speaking to reporters, Manjula said that the recent assault has once again proved that women were not protected in the state. She said the police assault should be investigated by a judge.Manjula said that chief minister Siddaramaiah was celebrating his tenure as the longest-serving CM, and it is unfortunate that he did not condemn this incident. “Action should be taken against those responsible for this assault. A complaint will be filed with the National Commission for Women. Even the women and child welfare minister Laxmi Hebbalkar is not talking about this. Such conduct, if established, amounted to a grave violation of a woman’s dignity, personal liberty, and protection from gender-based violence.A letter was sent to DGP Karnataka to conduct a fair, impartial, and time-bound investigation, including examination of video evidence, initiate strict departmental and criminal action against erring officials if misconduct was found, and ensure medical aid, psychological support, rehabilitation, and compensation to the victim as per law.
