Koppal: As part of the Maha Dasoha at the Sri Gavisiddeshwara Jatra, the Mirchi Balaga of Koppal prepared nearly 6 lakh mirchi bajjis to be served to the devotees, on 6, Jan. Abhinava Gavisiddeshwar Swami, pontiff of Gavi Mutt, started the service by dipping a hot green chilli in the besan paste and frying it in edible oil. The initiative became a major attraction of the Gavisiddeshwara Jatra, which draws devotees from across the region. Approximately 2 lakh devotees were served after the Maha Rathotsava. Around 28 quintals of besan flour, 22 quintals of green chillies, 15 barrels of groundnut oil, 60 kg carom seeds, and an appropriate amount of salt was used. It took around 400 cooks and 150 helpers, all of whom were volunteers to prepare 6 lakh bajjis.
